As one of the Activity Leaders my focus is to help our residents continue to live a full life! If you look at our monthly calendar that our Department creates, you will see a wide variety of activities. We have Weekly Entertainment from Talented Musicians, BINGO, Writing Workshops, Wine & Cheese Events, and Monthly Birthday Parties. Flushing House also owns at 12 passenger van so we take two trips a week. We go out to museums, theaters, stores, restaurants, and picnics in the park! My experience comes from years of program directing for many different age groups. My involvement in my church community has given me a foundation for how to organize activities and build community among a group of people. I have also spent years working with the hard of hearing / senior community looking to provide support and educate those about services they have available to them. I love what I do here at Flushing House and when I miss a day I feel like I’ve missed so much. My hope is to continue to encourage residents to keep active and continue doing the things they love to do!

Terrance feels that the most rewarding aspects of his job are the opportunities to meet and interact with residents and encounter new ideas. It is important to him to engage and motivate each resident to become active, make friends and enjoy living every day.
Whenever a new resident is scheduled to move into Flushing House, Terrance prepares a “Welcome Package.” The Welcome Package includes basic information which he explains to the new arrival. After the package has been created, it is then given to Security who has the person’s name, room number and date of arrival.
Additionally, Terrance plays a vital role in directing residents to the appropriate department and staff members based on their needs. Working as Resident Liaison and being an advocate for the residents has its rewards. Terrance has had had several residents who he’s met throughout the years who’ve said, “I will always remember how Terrance helped me get acclimated.” It brings him great joy when residents and families show their appreciation in return for the appreciation that he shows them.
