You Can Help With Charitable Contributions
Many residents and families have expressed a desire to help strengthen our community with a contribution. We are a 501 (c) (3) charitable organization, which means that donations are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law. Here are several ways to donate, and we hope you’ll consider one. Or two!
George Nussbaum Fund – How does the fund work? As a not-for-profit, we never ask a resident to leave our community, when they are no longer able to pay for housing. To support this mission, the fund was established as a special endowment to subsidize residents who have fallen on hard financial times. We receive no government funds for this effort. Only your gift, and support from others, makes it possible for us to fulfill our mission of caring and compassion for older adults. You can strengthen our vision of a better life for older adults, by making a gift to Flushing House, and designating it for the George Nussbaum Fund.
New Horizons Fund
– Many of our residents support Flushing House by pledging their security deposits to the New Horizons Fund. This is earmarked for vital services needed to maintain a high quality of life for residents, while keeping rents affordable. It’s like a rainy day fund. You don’t even have to write a check, just make a pledge!
For residents who are no longer with us, their families can support the New Horizons Fund in their name. By sending a check equal to your loved one’s security deposit, payable to New Horizons Fund, you’ll help build our new endowment. You will also leave an important legacy, as your loved one’s name will appear on the large, prominently displayed plaque in our lobby.
Employee Holiday Fund – Our residents often speak of their very positive experiences here, especially our helpful and caring staff. Many express a desire to do something in return. Since employees cannot accept individual gifts from residents, we have an annual holiday gift drive and donations are divided equally amongst the staff.
Annual Gala Fundraising Event – Each year we hold our annual fundraiser. If you’d like to attend or support this event, please let us know and you’ll be placed on our mailing list.
Please be advised that your support is tax-deductible. We are a 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt, not-for-profit, registered as a charity with New York State. If you would like to contribute, or need additional information, please contact Robert Salant, director of community relations, at (347) 532-3025 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
