Optional COVID-19 Diagnostic TestingDear Flushing House Residents & Families,
In order to best serve our community, Flushing House will be offering optional communitywide COVID-19 diagnostic testing on Monday, September 28, starting at 11:30 AM. Testing will be conducted inside the residents’ apartment, there is no need to leave your apartment. The testing company, Studio Med will go door to door beginning on the 2nd floor. We estimate it should take approximately 20 minutes per floor. Flushing House staff members will be visiting resident apartments this week to confirm residents that will be participating in the optional testing.
Please have your insurance card handy on Monday, it is necessary for testing and will cover the lab work portion of the test. Studio Med is the company that will be administering the test and their service fee is $40.00. Flushing House negotiated the service fee for convenience and safety of the residents. This fee will be added to your monthly rent statement if you choose to participate and receive the Covid-19 test.
Testing data helps us develop a full picture of the epidemiology and course of this disease. The data can provide information for stopping or slowing the disease in the future. Accurate data is important and will continue to guide our community policies safeguarding residents and staff.
- If you test positive for COVID-19 by a viral test, know what protective steps to take if you are sick or caring for someone.
- If you test negative for COVID-19 by a viral test, you are not infected at the time your sample was collected. However, that does not mean you will not get sick. The test result only means that you did not have COVID-19 at the time of testing.
- If you test positive or negative for COVID-19, you still should take preventive measures to protect yourself and others.
For your safety and the safety of others, please continue to practice social distancing. Wear your mask when you leave your apartment at all times and kindly wear your mask when you receive a food delivery.
Thank you for your cooperation,
David Barr
